If money were no object (it is), what would be the top 10 collectables that men would collect? (ladies, you're welcome to join in though there may not be a lot of interest.
Here's the ground rules. It's my column, I can set them. You've come into a ton of money, you want to invest wisely (did you know that 20% of millionaires say that collectables are a part of their investment portfolio?) You want to display your items so room is an issue. They must be reasonably available, ie. auction, sale etc. This rules out buying Maple Leaf Gardens.
Here we go. Here is #10 in the list of valuable collectables.
#10 John Havilcek's Stolen Ball:
Ok, this is the only one of the items that don't exacty meet the criterion. Nobody knows exactly where this ball is. A short history lesson. In the 1965 Eastern Conference NBA series, the turning point is when John Havilcek stole an inbound pass with only seconds remaining in the game. He held onto the ball and ran out the clock allowing the Boston Celtics to knock off the favoured Philadelphia 76ers. In the ensuing turmoil, the ball was lost, some say stolen by a fan or possibly an arena employee. In 2007, a panel of experts estimated this ball to be worth $150,000 as it was in great demand by the Basketball Hall of Fame. If this is sitting in your closet, you may want to cash it in. Kaching!
Tomorrow, #9, everybody had this one.
