We've all heard of barn finds where a great old car, covered in dust with only a few hundred miles on it is found. Hard to believe, but it does happen.Now multiply that by 500. Yup, it happened and some of t could be yours.
A Chev dealership in Nebraska that has been around since the 50s closed a few years ago. The doors were locked. This particular dealership never had more that 3 employees.The owner, his wife and one mechanic. They worked 6 days a week and took great pride in making sure each and every customer got the best value available. Because it was a small dealership and the owners didn't have a big overhead, one of the quirks the owner had was the tendency to keep his unsold cars and store them. Here is where it gets interesting.
The family just assigned an auction house to inventory the items for a September auction. Included in this inventory is a 1958 Cameo pick up truck with 1 mile on it...yup...one mile. Also a new Corvair with less than 20 miles, a 1963 Impala with 4 mules and a 1978 Corvette with 5 miles on it.All in all there are 20 cars with less than 20 miles on them. They even come with the original plastic seat covers. They are dirty, and probably need a few hundred dollars in repairs to get them up and running, but what a find. Can you imagine buying a new 1958 Chevy truck with 1 mile on it! Now unless Iwin the lottery in the next few months, I'm probably not going to be able to buy one of these lost in time classics. But I am going to follow the auction. There is also a complete parts department if you're looking for NOS (new old stock).
